Cavities are spooky!

This Halloween, enjoy your treats, but brush your teeth.

Halloween is approaching and no one is more excited to eat Halloween candy than the bacteria in your mouth. Bacteria feeds off the sugar that gets stuck inside the tiny cracks and crevices in your teeth. The bacteria then leave behind an acid that can erode the enamel on your teeth leading to tooth decay.

Here's a few reminders for a cavity free Halloween!

1. Eat a healthy dinner before eating Halloween candy, that way you will eat less candy than if you are on an empty stomach.

2. Bring water and drink it while Trick or Treating, it will help rinse away some of the sugary residue left behind from eating candy.

3. Brush your teeth. No matter how tired you feel after all the Halloween fun, make sure you brush your teeth after enjoying your treats. The less sugary residue left in your teeth, the better odds of preventing cavities.

4. Safety first. Bring a flashlight and stay with your group of friendly ghouls at all times.

Also, if you have not done so, schedule your routine dental cleaning and get your teeth free of sugary residue from Halloween.
